Solving Decision Fatigue with the iPEC Framework

By Swarup Kumar • 6 min read

The average adult makes 35,000 decisions a day. By 4:00 PM, your prefrontal cortex—the CEO of your brain—is exhausted. This is why you skip the gym or eat junk food in the evening.

This is Decision Fatigue.

The iPEC Solution: Values-Based Filtering

Instead of using willpower (which is a finite resource) to make decisions, elite performers use Values-Based Filtering.

When you know your Core Values, decisions become binary.

  • Does this align with “Freedom”? Yes/No.
  • Does this align with “Impact”? Yes/No.

The 7 Levels of Energy

Understanding where you are on the Energy Leadership Index (ELI) allows you to spot when you are making decisions from fatigue (Level 1 or 2) versus when you are making decisions from power (Level 5 or 6).

The Protocol: Never make a strategic decision when your energy is Catabolic. Shift your state first, decide second.
